--Pony Camp- Horse Camp--
2008

Q. What if I've never ridden before?

A. No problem!  Lots of people who come to our camp have never been around horses before.  The horses are well behaved and treat beginners kindly, and our instructors have a lot of experience with new riders.

Q. What if I have ridden for years?  Will I be bored?

A. Only if you don't like horses! We have put together a challenging week to target your age and riding level. Plus you get to meet other riders just like yourself.

Q. What are the rules about coming to see my child while at camp?

A. You are more than welcome to drop in at lunchtime
while your child is at the camp. However, it can sometimes be distracting for the child and the instructor if a parent is present during the daily activities, so please do not visit during other times.

Q How much time will my child spend with the horses while at camp?
A. Each child is responsible for their horse while they are at the camp.
This includes feeding, brushing, washing, and anything else the horse needs while the camper is with the horse. Your Child will take a mounted lesson in the morning, and a craft. At lunch, your child will water and hay their horse.  They will have a mounted lesson and an un-mounted lesson in the afternoon.

Q. What should my child wear to camp?

A. We suggest that your child wear English Paddock Boots and Breeches and a riding helmet. Your child should also wear a comfortable t-shirt that can get dirty as well as a light jacket or sweatshirt for the mornings when it is cool. NO SHORTS OR TENNIS SHOES, your child CAN NOT ride in these. If you or your child chooses not to get breeches or a helmet, they can ride in pants that are not restrictive, like a pair of stretch pants or stretch jeans and a pair of heeled boots like lace-up western boots, ect. But they should NOT wear WIDE or BULKY boots, they are a safety hazard. They are also welcome to rent a helmet at Cardinal Stables at a rate of 10.00 a week. If you would like to purchase your child’s riding apparel, an instructor here at the barn sells riding apparel and can get your child set up with what they need with as little expense as necessary. An order form is included if you wish to order your items from S&S Equestrian. Please order at least 2 weeks prior to your child’s first week of camp to ensure your child has what they need for camp, as this time of year these items go quickly.

Q. What will my child eat while they are at camp

A. Your child should bring a bagged lunch, a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack and at least 3 drinks to camp every day.  We do sell drinks and snacks here at the barn as well and your child is welcome to purchase a snack or drink from Cardinal Stables if you would like to deposit money into our “store fund” for your child.

Q. Should I send money with my child to camp?

A. No. You should not send money to camp with your child. If you wish to send money for your child to purchase items, like T-Shirts, drinks, snacks, etc, then please fill out a “Store Account” form and we will open a store account for your child.

Q. What if I am early or late to drop off or pick up my child, or what if my child will be absent?

A. Arrangements can be made for before and after camp care. There is a daycare fee involved, and arrangements MUST be made at time of application and payment. If you are not signed up for Before or After Care, DO NOT drop your child off early, or pick your child up late. In the event of early arrivals or late pick-ups that are not signed up for Before or After Care, you will be charged a fee of 10.00 per half hour, as we have to pay our staff to watch your child.  If you will be there to pick up your child early, please be sure to notify camp staff when you drop your child off in the morning, so that we can have your child ready without distracting the camp schedule or other campers. Later arrivals will be allowed to participate, but may miss out on camp instruction as camp will start as scheduled If your child will be absent, please let us know as soon as possible. Refunds will not be given for absence. It is very important to keep us informed.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call or send us an email. Or, you take a look at the camp information forms, as they can be very helpful in answering your questions as well.

Registration Deadline is June 01, 2008: Late registrations accepted on first come first serve basis
